How Would It Be To Have A Cancer Therapy And Be Infected With Mrsa?

Hey all,
just read something in the news about a guy who has cancer and got infected with mrsa.
Correct me if i m wrong, but when you have cancer you get a cemotherapy with medcine and radiation. This radiation destroys your immune system.
Then being infected with MRSA sounds for me really horrible, because MRSA is something like totaly resistable bacteria, isnt it?
Am i wrong? What will be done if something like this happens?
Thanks in advance
Greetings

Unfortunately for cancer patients especially for those with advanced disease hospitals can actually be a dangerous place. I do know of cancer patients (one of whom had no evidence of disease) who have gotten MRSA and died. It is very bittersweet to feel that you have the cancer under control only to die from another disease. However, it is all part of the cancer package . .cancer is life threatening and its not always the cancer that can kill you. Most cancer wards in hospitals are very aware of this danger and have single isolated rooms (some have rooms to protect the patient while other rooms are there to protect the other patients from the patient).

MRSA is a serious infection and would be even more serious and dangerous in someone that is undergoing chemotherapy. Their resistance to infection and the ability to fight one off are extremely depleted due to the chemo and it would make it even more difficult for them to get rid of, even with the latest antibiotics. One could only assume that it would aggressively treated in someone in that situation, just like anyone else.
MRSA is not completely incurable, but can be very persistent and even deadly in some cases.

Yes. MRSA basically loves diabetics because they have decreased immune systems, so likewise the guy with cancer…
